SiReN viSoN

We talked about composition in art class today. It is important to move the eye around the work then bring it all back to the focal point.  Love this, because I can add
interest around the subject.  Gotta remember to bring it back to the focal point though, which is part of the fun.  Also, do not make other elements more important than
focal point.
Here is my #twoodle tweet doodle.
I tried to apply some of what I learned today.
No time for color though:(

Really wanted to scan and do digitally,
but my printer said 5 years and my time is up today.
We had a good run.  Now the search for a decent
multifunction printer that doesn't require ink that cost
a fortune.

I may try to trace my photo in illustrator
and see how that method looks...

    Will keep you posted,
until then this Siren floats in cyberspace,
baffling crocks and men alike.

Hair Possibility

I did this #twoodle inspired by the words rainbow+bouffant.  The hairdo slowly morphed into
Hilda's obsession Dashing Dan.  I have decided I will continue to post on Wednesdays, with
maybe some bonus days thrown in with the #twoodles.  So tune in next week!

Today after doing this drawing I went to the first art class I have been to in years.  It felt great
to be back among real live artists, no offense cyber illustrator friends!  Talked with the teacher a
lot about how so many elements effect a drawing.  Perspective, structure/design of the drawing
being key.

It's overwhelming, the possibilities in art.  Makes it a little hard to focus sometimes.  I am just
going to keep plugging away at it, having fun finding my way.

Twitter + Doodle = #Twoodle

Took part in #Twoodle game on Twitter started by illustrator Alicia Padron.  This is the result, it's a weasellog!

Paper Personas Sketch

Remember the Paper Personas project I mentioned below?  Well, I completed the project.
I will give you a sneak peak, a rough sketch.  I will be sending the final doll off to Art Doll Quarterly.

If you are an artist and would like to make your own paper doll, the submissions are ongoing.  Check out the site!  It's a great magazine, as are all  Stampington's publications.

What's for Dinner? Worm Stew of course!

What's for dinner?  Worm stew!  Delicious only to birds I'm sure.  Verrry sketchy sketch of work in progress.
I got this idea after making spaghetti. There were a few strays left in the pan.                                                                    http://raradesig3.wix.com/rachelbollman

Paper Personas Perfecto

Lately have become obsessed with the idea of paper dolls.  It started with stumbling on a challenge from Art Doll Quarterly, Paper Personas...
http://www.stampington.com/submissions/callsChallenges.html#artdollquarterly
which sound so fun I started sketching right away.
I was curious to see what else is out there so I did a Bing search on paper dolls and to my utter joy, my heart is racing...I found The Ginghams, a set I had as a small girl.  NOT ONLY did I find pictures but a link so that you too may print out A FULL SET for yourself! or your kids if you have them. http://tpettit.best.vwh.net/dolls/pd_scans/ginghams/index.html
